- What are the steps to becoming a “nurse anesthetist’?
In nursing school, they train you for all types of nursing. If you have a desire to work with Cardiac patients, you can then choose to apply for a job on a Cardiac floor. You will receive more extensive training there. But you are taught the basics of EKG interpretation while in nursing school. I know a couple of nurses that got their degree from U of M and were very happy with the program. However, my aunt is a nursing professor at Grand Valley State in Grand Rapids, and that’s also a very good school.
I’m not an expert, please research the link below for more information.
I suggest looking into your local Community Colleges that offer nursing as part of their curriculum. This would be your least expensive choice unless you’re getting a scholarship.
You can go on from there, once employed, hospitals offer assistance in obtaining additional degrees and should also offer the classes you need to move on the be a Cardiac Nurse.
if you would like to get a Bachelors degree (higher pay)
I would start first at any city college just to get your prerequisites
usually child growth and development, A&P, Biology etc.
usually takes a year full time
now if want a Bachelors degree, I would go to Michigan State
just a personal fav…
If you want a 2 year Associates degree, by the time you get your prerequisites, you would have heard from instructor your school counselor etc which they think is the best
the best question to ask before you start nursing school is to ask them what % of their graduates pass the NCLEX exam the first time
that is a true test of the best school
If you graduate from nursing school and don’t pass the NCLEX exam
you are not a nurse and would have to take it again
If you go to a school with the highest pass rate you will not need to worry as they will teach you what you need to know to pass
good luck my fellow future nurse
