What Do You Think Of Men Entering Nursing, Specifically Become Nurse Anesthetists?

I am a 22 yr old male who just graduated from college with a BS in Economics. I am considering going back to get a BSN and eventually a MSN in Nurse Anesthesia. I have always loved healthcare and have been great at science, specifically anatomy. I don’t know why I did not do this before. What do you think of the idea? What do you think of male nurses, nurse anesthetists?

  1. dude I says:

I think it is totally fine, this is happening all the time. Remember half of the patients are men and many men feel more comfortable with a male nurse or an anesthetist.

  2. Craig M says:

The only problem with male nurses is the fact that most of the patients think they are their doctor. I am a resp therapist and they usually think I am their doctor too. Many patients still think only women are nurses and only men can be doctors. I have seen a female doctor see a patient and then they say she was sure dressed different and asked a lot of questions to be a nurse.

its great that you have a passion for it. you’ll do fine, it doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you love doing it.

Go with your dreams and goals you will be fine.
