If you are looking for a reference, which will help you select appropriate actions for pediatric patients. I recommend you try to get a copy of this book: THE PEDIATRIC NURSE’S SURVIVAL GUIDE. It has numerous helpful sections, and includes the updated NANDA diagoses. It has guidelines on how to develop the plans for the pediatric patient. It is also small enough to carry in your pocket when in the clinical setting.

Not sure what the disease is, but family/psychosocial is always one. Think about development and reassurance for the 5 month old. Education to family is always a good one to work with too.
    Good luck!!
