Well you need to do a risk assessment, since they are likely to fall. Do they have postural hypertension or just general hypertension? What medications are they taking? What are the side effects? Why are they experiencing hypertension? Stress can cause hypertension.
Postural hypertension is when a person experiences a dramatic rise in blood pressure when sitting and/or standing. The person will feel dizzy or light headed and be unsteady on their feet. In this case you would need to move anything that may be a tripping hazard. Keep communicating with the patient ask them whether they are 'seeing stars' or feeling dizzy if they are let them get themselves together for a moment. And monitor their blood pressure regularly. It often depends on the case scenario because hypertension can link to alot of other things.

Look up benign or essential hypertension online...write your care plan according to the symptoms and pathophysiology you find.
For Nurse Kelly...postural hypotension has nothing to do with essential hypertension.
hypo-means low or insufficient, as in hypotension=low blood pressure.
hyper- means high or excessive as in hypertension=high blood pressure
