But anyways, for most people they say a college degree makes no sense. Engineering, business, human resources, and like 90% of every Major there is. Smart people will always excel at what they do and will get the job done and do it right.

Is this true or not?

I was online researching nursing last night. I ran across a couple of articles on nursing. I was surprised to see that according to the articles 600,000 nurses per year in America get accidently stuck by needles when they are giving patients injections or dealing with IV lines. If you are a nurse or in nursing school, has this ever happened to you? From the article that I read, I got the impression that this happens to nurses on a regular basis. It seems as if nurses are at high risk of contracting blood-borne infectious diseases. RNs, LPNs, CNAs, MDs please share your 1st hand knowledge/experience on this (2nd hand knowledge would be appreciated too).

I’m currently a nursing student in my 1st yr @ a community college, and i have all intentions on going strait to a 4 yr. for my baccalaureate after I’m done with my associates . I am currently a certified aide and i work in a large hospital. Though I’m not having regrets about going into nursing (i realllllly want to be a nurse, i cant imagine doing anything else with my life, i love working with patients, many nurses and patients have told me that i’d make a good nurse, and most of the females in my family are either already nurses or going into nursing) i am worried that after i graduate and pass my boards i won’t be able to find a job and will be stuck being an aide. I hear the same quotes almost daily~ 1. there is a nursing shortages everywhere and 2. nursing is the best field to go into because you’ll always have a job, but WHERE IS THE EVIDENCE of these claims! The main reason why i wanted to work @ the hospital that I’m at is because its like the best hospital in MI, and i wanted t get my foot in the door(it wont be any trouble to get a job here when i become a nurse, or so i thought). I know a few of my co-workers have graduated and passed their boards and are having trouble finding jobs as nurses. On top of that like 80% of the aides that i know, and I’m a floater so i know quite a few, are trying to be nurses.
One of my instructors stated that michigan has 54 nsg. programs and are pushing out more nurses than our state needs, therefore it will be beneficial to relocate. I have absolutely no problem relocating to a different state or even country once I’m licensed. I’ve been doing some research and found a list of stated and countries where nurses are in demand, or so they say. When i dug a little deeper and searched for articles about nursing overages in the states on the list, i found a few stories and/or blogs where it was stated that “new nurses are having difficulty finding jobs” in those states that supposedly have “shortages”. i also did a little research and discovered that most of the countries outside of the U.S. that are in need of nurses have trouble filling those positions because nurses are either poorly paid, treated like slaves, or a combination of both. My question is when i graduate what is my real chances of finding a job as a nurse, and where is the best place to go since i will more than likely have to relocate???
