I’m in my first semester and I think I am losing sight of the prize. To think I still have three semesters to go. Everything just seems difficult, the information you are supposed to retain and clinical classes. Got any hints or tips to help? Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

LOL…you really brightened my day. Thank you!
Yes, people do make it through nursing school and live to tell the tale! I can relate to what you are experiencing though. It is all so overwhelming but it does get better. The first year is really the worst (for R.N.s). It gets piled on and I think it is to weed out those that really are not serious about the profession. Get through the first two semesters and you will see a difference.
What really helped me was to read through all my notes every night. I found that by the time the tests came around, I had read through them so many times that I had memorized all but the last few days worth! Made studying for tests so much easier as then I could just concentrate on the notes from the days I was weak on.
Feel free to email me anytime you want to vent, talk or just have a shoulder to lean on. Good luck in your chosen profession! You can do it!
Probably not much help, but I have to say it anyway. Take just one day at a time. Forget looking at what’s ahead of you. Just count each day as a success. I’m just getting read to return to school after many years and I’ve decided to look at it this way.
I’m laughing and chuckling at this!!! I remember my first semester. It sucked! Especially clinicals, you feel so lost and inept. You feel like you clinical instructors don’t like you. Oh!
Hang in there! Think about this, you’re in the program!!! There are thousands in the country still on the waiting list, and thousands more still taking prerequisites to even just apply. You are halfway through!!!!
